8/25: NYM @ FLA

1) Nelson Figueroa: 78 pitches. 2 strikes swinging. 2 Fastballs.
  • Figueroa is a 6-1, 180 pound righty. The 35 year old has a medium frame that won't be adding any more muscle. He came from a 3/4 release with a little bit of a whipping arm action. His fastball has good run in on righties and some sink. His curve is a slow 3-8 with below average depth and is more of a side to side offering. His cutter has some cut and flashes some sink. His change has some fade from lefties with good sink that he will throw to righties. He will throw cutters in any count at any time, as he threw them 3-1 and 3-2 with the bases loaded. A solid emergency pitcher to have at AAA, but you hope you never have to break the glass and have him throw meaningful innings.
